NASHVILLE — The Johnson County School board has been named School Board of the Year by the Tennessee School Boards Association.
The award was presented to board members Monday night during the annual TSBA Convention at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center.
“TSBA is proud to honor the Johnson County School Board for their excellent service to their community and students,” TSBA Executive Director Dr. Tammy Grissom said. “This Board is dedicated to providing quality education for their children.”
The School Board of the Year award recognizes good board/staff relations, programs designed to meet specific community needs, strong local support of schools, and a demonstrated commitment to high quality schools.
The superintendent, school administrator(s), board secretary, parent-teacher association or organization, a member of the board-appointed committee, may make nominations for School Board of the Year.
The TSBA, a statewide, nonprofit organization, is a federation of the state’s local school boards. It serves as an advocate for the interests of Tennessee’s public school students and school districts.
