The Johnson County Board of Education formally approved pursing district accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Council on Accrediation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI) on September 14, 2006.

The system hosted a Readiness Visit conducted by SACS-CASI state specialist Sue Boyer on January 18, 2007. Based upon this visit, it was determined that the system met the readiness criteria and was encouraged to submit a letter to the Atlanta and Nashville SACS-CASI offices requesting a District Accreditation visit be scheduled. This visit has been scheduled for September 28-October 1, 2008.

With the merger of SACS-CASI with NCA-CASI and NSSE, Johnson County Schools will now complete a review of all standards set forth by the newly formed Advanc-Ed organization. All schools and the district office will participate in this review and will combine it with the annual completion of the district's Tennessee Comprehensive Systemwide Planning Process as well as the annual Board of Educaton retreat and Five-Year plan development and revision.
