'Building Bridges To Success'

Safety & Disclosure

The Safe and Drug-Free Schools is a Federal Program for reducing drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, and violence, through education and prevention activities in our schools. The Johnson County Schools Safety Program supports initiatives to meet the National Education Goal, which states that by the year 2000 our school will free of drugs and violence and the unauthorized presence of firearms and alcohol, and offer a disciplined environment conducive to learning. These initiatives are designed to prevent violence in and around schools, and strengthen programs that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, involve parents, and are coordinated with related Federal, State and community efforts and resources. We continue to improve our programs each year with numerous training opportunities, D.A.R.E. Programs, early intervention, and a wide range of school-based education and prevention activities.

We also have a comprehensive safety identification badge program in place that provides photo identification for all school system employees.  In addition, all schools have a comprehensive safety plan for emergency and crisis situations.
